A crankshaft, also known as a crank, is a mechanical component in an engine that converts reciprocating motion into rotational motion. It is typically a long, cylindrical shaft with several offset crank throws or crankpins attached to it. The crank throws are connected to the connecting rods of the engine, which are in turn connected to the pistons.
